The elders of the '80s are retiring
by truthseeker ini was catching up on news with a friend of mine from my old hall - a few of the elders have stepped down and some have retired.. these are men who were in their 30's during the 1980's when i was very young - now they are retiring or facing retirement.. i sometimes wonder how they feel after working all those years only to wake up and realize that their working lives are over.. do they ask themselves: what's happened?

In one cong. they were so in need of elders that they reinstated a disfellowedship elder who also was a manicdepressive on meds, and reappointed him to be the p.o. I wonder how many more servants are on meds as they try to get through the responsibilities assigned them.

No More Bookbags in Service?

What happens to your records if you disappear?
by AwSnap ini lived in another state for awhile, and i'm not sure if my father or congregation had my records sent to a hall near my apartment, despite the fact that i never went to a kh there.
what happens to your records if you are truly inactive and most members dont even know who you are?
do the records get sent to bethel?

When I served as an Elder, I was assigned to destroy the records of anyone who no longer attended back 7 years. i.e. Today that would mean from 2003 and back. Clear them out.
They were to keep only those from 7years ago to current and try to restore them back into the fold. Whose policy was this? I don't know, the Circuit Overseer approved this at the time.
What the policy is now I don't know. However, whether or not this is done on a local level, as Farkel said, Bethel has a huge file on everyone.

VM44. I remember this article. It was at the time, so very convincing, with 1975 closing in. Also, the book, "The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah." Green covered, was used as a book study and had that material in it.
